Description
Phosphoric Acid 75% is a highly concentrated liquid used in gardening primarily to lower the pH of water and nutrient solutions and to supply supplemental phosphorus.
Uses in the Garden
- pH Adjustment: Acts as a strong “pH Down” product for hydroponics, soil, and fertigation systems to bring overly alkaline water down to an optimal range (typically 5.5 to 6.5).
- Nutrient Supply: Provides water-soluble phosphate, which aids in root development, flowering, and overall plant metabolism.
Safety and Handling
- Corrosive Nature: 75% phosphoric acid is a strong, concentrated acid. It can cause severe skin burns and eye damage.
- Personal Protection: Always wear chemical-resistant gloves, eye protection, and work in a well-ventilated area when handling.
- Dilution: Always add the acid to water—never add water to the acid—to avoid dangerous exothermic splashing reactions. Start with just a few drops per gallon, mix thoroughly, and re-test with a pH meter.
